„Language Correctness: Black and white? Or a myriad shades of gray?“
Most of us believe that error correction plays a crucial role in boosting our students’ developing linguistic system. For this reason, we painstakingly remind them to avoid using ‚Czenglish‘ expressions as much as possible. But has it ever occurred to you that, maybe, just maybe, some of the items we have been stubbornly and categorically referring to as ‘errors’ may actually be part of a vast gray area of acceptable—if unlikely—language?
We’ll examine our own attitudes to ‚correctness‘ by studying a selection of these so-called ‚Czenglish‘ expressions vis-à-vis a sample of authentic language. Is it really justifiable to keep labeling them as wrong? We’ll also explore the practical implications of this topic: How does this influence the way we assess our students‘ oral and written output? What (and how much) should we tell them when they ‚confront‘ us with examples that seem to break the rules? Finally, with most communication in English now taking place between non-native speakers, how should we define our relationship with English? Borrowers? Or co-owners?

„Role učitele, role studenta“
Jak se mění studenti, mění se i vyučující a požadavky na ně. Jaký je ideální lektor? Co od něj klienti očekávají? S čím předstupuje před své studenty? Zvládnutí jazyka a metodiky už dnes nestačí…
Workshop nabídne aktivity, které mohou pomoci vtáhnout studenty více do našich hodin i domácí přípravy, dají jim možnost zapojit se do obsahu výuky a zároveň nést zodpovědnost za svůj pokrok. Tento přístup se může zdát pro vyučující náročný, ale ve finále si můžete užít každou svou hodinu jako nové dobrodružství. A stejně si vaše lekce užijí i studenti,
kteří si odnesou víc než další sadu slovíček a gramatických pravidel.
Workshop je určen pro učitele všech jazyků.
